CERTIFICATION

RI Certified Horticulturist Program

We're pleased to announce that registration is now OPEN for the updated and fully revised RI Certified Horticulturist Program. An orientation session will be held Tues., Sept. 29 followed by weekly online lecture classes, an exam review session, and final exam on Dec. 13. The plant ID portion of the course will be held in the winter, with dates to be announced later this fall. The RICH certificate is earned by green industry professionals who pass an examination based on plant identification and the contents of The RICH Training Manual.

The RI•CH Program is a voluntary program that:

Upgrades the professionalism of individuals in the nursery and landscape industries.

Increases the education, competence and pride of nursery and landscape employees.

Informs the public of increased industry professionalism and competence.

RICH promotes the highest ethical standards, increased professional skills, and continuing education in horticulture through current research-based horticultural information and practices.

This course and manual will provide you and your staff with best horticultural practices such as planting and pruning. It will also emphasize practices which will conserve and protect our soils and water.

How do I get certified?

Enrollment will begin in early September. The course will run in October and November with the exam in mid-December.
